EA's own anti-cheat team blocked 277,649 attempts to cheat or tamper with Battlefield 6 in July. Sit with that number for a second. That's not reports, that's not bans, that's actual intervention attempts by EA Javelin before those cheats could touch a live match. And even with that volume of prevention, the game's Match Infection Rate, the percentage of matches touched by at least one cheater, still spiked to 5.74% in the middle of the month. For a game EA keeps calling the best-selling shooter of 2025, that's a real problem hiding under the marketing copy.
The anti-cheat post that dropped September 4 is refreshingly honest about the mess, too. They're currently tracking 104 active cheat programs and vendors (down 8 from the prior count), and 100 of those are now reporting broken features or full outages, a 96.15% disruption rate. That sounds great until you remember 4 vendors are apparently still functioning just fine. Also worth flagging: EA changed how it calculates MIR mid-season because the old formula was flagging skilled players and vehicle mains as suspicious just for being good. That's a legitimate fix, but it also means you can't directly compare July's numbers to anything from before the recalibration without an asterisk.
Tsuru Reef Gets a Long Overdue Rework
The bigger news for anyone who actually plays this game is the Community Update posted September 2, laying out what's coming in the Tidal Strike patch (which third-party trackers and a since-deleted-adjacent community post peg for a September 15 release, though EA's own article stopped short of naming that date directly). The headline fix is Breakthrough on Tsuru Reef, which the devs are finally admitting has been tilted hard toward defenders. Anyone who's played that map knows this already. Watching attackers get pinned at the first sector for ten minutes because the choke points and spawn logic favor whoever's dug in isn't fun, it's a stalemate simulator. The fix bundles capture zone changes, new flanking routes (including boat paths around defensive lines), and adjusted spawn and vehicle placement. That's a real structural fix, not a stat tweak, and it's the kind of change that actually needed a full dev cycle instead of a hotfix.
